Jill Edwards talks all things Brighton comedy scene with Pete from Brighton Journal...

I had a lovely chat about my work, my graduates and all things Brighton comedy scene with journalist Pete James from Brighton Journal to end the year. We were backstage at my Comic Boom comedy club at Komedia Brighton on the night before New Year's Eve.The show sold out in advance. Our audience were packed into every space and all up for a great comedy night out, as were all the comedians on the bill.

My stand-up comedy course at Komedia Brighton graduate comedy musical maestro David Jordan stormed his first Comic Boom headline spot. He was fresh from supporting both Simon Evans and then Zoe Lyons on tour. Exciting! David came on stage dressed as Darth Vadar, weilding a light sabre, surrounded by dry ice, and then he danced - "sexy mother fucker!" He devised that craziness especially for our December Comic Boom. David Jordan is fast rising and officially fabulous.

I really enjoyed talking to the excellent Pete about all those things that are so close to my comedy heart. I did have a bad cold though so his tape of our interview had added sniffs. Click on copy below to read the full results of our lovely chat (minus the sniffs):

“The key for me with all of it is originality. Be original in your ideas, with your material, with your club, with whatever you are planning to do in the stand-up comedy world...”
