A Selection of our Rising Comedy Stars Nominated for Chortle Awards this year...

Jill Edwards Comedy Workshops Graduate Shappi Khorsandi

The Chortle Award nominations are exciting again this year because some of my lovely Komedia Brighton comedy course graduates, Comic Boom comedy club rising comedy stars and my newest MC have been nominated for Awards!

It's no surprise that my stand-up comedy workshops graduate the hard working and brilliant Romesh Ranganathan has been nominated for two Chortle Awards - Best TV comedian and Best Tour. I hope you caught his incredible touring show but if you didn't you couldn't have missed him in something on TV!

I'm delighted that my stand-up comedy course graduate lovely Shappi Khorsandi has been nominated for the Book award for "Nina is Not Ok." Shappi's written several sucessful books now but this one is something a bit different and a lot brilliant.

I'm very excited that my newest Comic Boom at Komedia Brighton MC Laura Lexx has been nominated for Best Compere. A youtube clip of Laura expertly dealing with being heckled by a male audience member who was "disappointed" because he was "expecting a male compere" at Krater comedy club at Komedia Brighton last year, went viral, and won Laura a lot of fans.

Two of our newer Comic Boom comedy club at Komedia Brighton rising comedy stars have had a stellar year too. Tom Ward and Bilal Zafar have both been nominated for Best Newcomer in the Chortle Awards. They both deserve to win!

Pierre Novellie has worked his way up the ranks at Comic Boom and made it all the way to the top to the Headline spot this year. He's been nominated in the Chortle Awards for best Club Comedian.

Sofie Hagen has been collecting awards, including Best Newcomer in the Edinburgh Comedy Awards, and now she's been nominated in the Chortle Awards for the Internet Award for her - The Guilty Feminist Podcast - with Deborah Frances White.

Nothing makes me happier than when my stand-up comedy course graduates and Comic Boom rising comedy stars are on the rise. My fingers are crosssed for the brilliant acts I've worked with who have been nominated. But I'm also wishing the very best of luck to all the ferociously talented comedians who have been nominated for Chortle Awards this year.

Don't forget to nip over to the Chortle website and vote for your favourites...
