Congratulations Graduate Romesh Ranganathan on BAFTA Nomination...

I laughed, clapped and whooped in a particularly uncool way when I found out that my lovely comedy workshops graduate the brilliant Romesh Ranganathan has been nominated for a BAFTA! The British Academy of Television Awards have nominated Romesh for his "that is so" Romesh performance in his superb BBC 3 docu-series "Asian Provocateur." I loved it and I'm delighted that BAFTA agrees with me!

It's a wonderful thing watching a graduate I've enjoyed working with so much over the past six years in his own docu-series. I've just about got used to seeing my comedy course graduates on all the stand-up based shows like "Live at the Apollo" and "Mock the Week." I'm pretty sure I'm totally biased about all my graduates, whatever they do, but I genuinely loved "Asian Provocateur." My particular favourite episode features Rom participating in a Sri Lankan sports day. Hooting with laughter he manages to come last in the children's race!

If you haven't seen it yet I'd highly recommend you find it on catch-up and settle in to watch all six episodes back to back. It's a quirky joy with an unforgettable cast of Rom's unique relatives including his hilarious Mum Shanthi. She sets it all in motion when she insists Rom goes to Sri Lanka, visits distant relations and gets in touch with his Sri Lankan roots. It's all a far cry from Rom's home town Crawley...
