Jill's New Comedy Fledglings take their First Flights at Brighton's Komedia...

Jill Edwards Stand Up Comedy Course Autumn 2017

My latest stand-up comedy course at Komedia Brighton fledglings took to the stage for the very first time in our "New Act Night" show last night. They were all wonderful! I'm so proud of each and every one of them. The work they put into creating their first stand-up sets over the twelve weeks of my comedy course really showed. They all had authentic, interesting and proper funny stand-up material. It was a joy to watch them all. They drew in a huge gorgeous audience who were delighted with all the acts and the show and couldn't have been more supportive. What a fantastic first gig!

It has as always been a pleasure teaching my latest group of fantastic comedy fledglings. This group worked hard, trusted (or gave into) "the process" and while creating short stand-up sets they made life long friends. They also created my favourite ever last class of term cakes. We always have a buffett during the last class of term to give it a party style feel. Comedy course participant Martin baked a delightfully bizarre cake featuring his classmates as ghosts (it was a mad running joke all term) and a dent that was supposed to be a smile. I could not have loved that cake more. Or this group.

I'm so looking forward to continuing to work with them in my advanced comedy workshop and as always wondering which ones will be back, like my very fast rising comedy course graduate Angela Barnes, to MC a future New Act Night. Angela's host of "Newsjack" for a second series, just filmed for"Live at the Apollo" and has become a regular on "Mock the Week." I couldn't be happier for her and I can't help but wonder who'll follow in her footstepts out of the class of Autumn 2017...

A delightfully bizarre end of term cake! Show us your bakes?
