Workshops Graduate James Ellis Wins "South Coast Comedian of the Year 2021"...

Jill Edwards Comedy Workshops Graduate James Ellis Wins "South Coast Comedian of the Year" Grand Final 2021

I'm sending out more proud congratulations to my Komedia Brighton stand-up comedy course graduate James Ellis who won the "South Coast Comedian of the Year" 2021 last night! And my stand-up course graduate Graeme Collard was runner-up. I am as always very proud of them both. What a night!

This competition has previously been won by several of my stand-up comedy course graduates. Joe Foster and Mike Cox both took the title of winner in their respective years and went on to become professional working comics. When Mike started out in my Komedia Brighton stand-up comedy class he was a policeman. Joe was going slowly mad in a very dull office job. James Ellis is a plumber!

Graeme Collard joins my runners-up comedy course graduate gang with previous "South Coast Comedian of the Year" runner-up Roz Ryan. Graeme is a self employed man with a van. Roz is a freelance health and fitness journalist. They're also both terrific new comedians.

Winning the "South Coast Comedian of the Year" 2021 was the end to a good year in comedy for James. He reached the Finals of the BBC New Comedy Awards in 2021. He also started doing his first paid 20 minute spots at pro comedy nights, like Krater comedy club at the Komedia. I'm really looking forward to what 2022 has in store for my fast rising comedy course graduate James Ellis. He's got to be Brighton's funniest plumber right now...
