My online International comedy course finished last week in a blaze of creativity and laughter. Everyone in the class created a short online comedy content clip and a short stand-up comedy set to show and perform in our last class. I was blown away by how good they all were! They were a terrific group of friendly, funny and interesting people. I really enjoyed working with them every Wednesday during the Winter of 2020.
We went in and out of lockdown during the term but the great thing about an online comedy course is that it's unaffected by it all. We met up online every week. We learnt loads about how to get started in stand-up comedy. And above all - we had a lot of fun. I'm really excited about teaching my International comedy course all over again with a new group in the summer.
It was so interesting working with a group of great people from all across the UK and all around the World. They were all in different time zones during the class! They all had different experiences to share about the stand-up comedy circuit in their part of the World. But I was reminded again of how universal the language of stand-up comedy is. Regardless of who and where you are - how you create original, funny stand-up comedy material that will work in any comedy club - is the same the world over. The main difference globally is how much competition you'll be up against (competition is actually a good thing) and how developed the stand-up comedy club scene is in your area.
My online comedy courses all have that exciting global mix of participants. I'm looking forward to the two I have coming up in January. It's my short online stand-up comedy workshop taster on Sunday January 10th. There is probably no finer or funnier way to spend a Sunday afternoon, especially in January, than having a laugh with like minded people, learning how to create some humour you can use in your work, life or play.
My January online weekend comedy course is the ultimate misery buster for a lockdown or tier 4 Winter weekend. We all enjoy escaping for a weekend of laughs with new friends and learning fun stuff. It culminates in being able to create a short online comedy content clip and a short stand-up comedy set. It's a very chilled, fun and friendly weekend - suitable for one and all.
In 2021 I'll continue to enjoy extending my UK stand-up comedy classes across the country and around the World. And I'm really looking forward to returning to my face to face stand-up comedy courses back home at Komedia Brighton. 2021 is going to be an exciting year...
