Graduate Sam Williams "Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year 2022" Finalist...

Jill Edwards Comedy Workshops Graduate Sam Williams nominated for "Leicester Mercury New Comedian of the Year" 2022

I'm sending out more heartfelt congratulations to my fast rising Komedia Brighton stand-up comedy course graduate Sam Williams. He was a runner-up in the Chortle Student Comedy Award in 2021. He was also named one of the Union JACK Radio's Ones to Watch 2022. Now he's been nominated for the highly prestigious "Leicester Mercury New Comedian of the Year" 2022 and he will perform in the Grand Final at the ever popular Leicester Comedy Festival.

This comedy competition is considered a very special one in the comedy community because a comedian has to be nominated by more than one established comedy club promoter to get into the Final. There's no heats and comedians can't apply to enter this competition. It's all about which fast rising new acts comedy club promoters have enjoyed the most over the past year. The line-ups for the Final are, as a result - fiercely fantastic.

The Leicester Comedy Festival's "Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year" is a comedy competition that has previously been won by my Komedia Brighton comedy course graduates Seann Walsh and Romesh Ranganathan. My stand-up course gradautes Ingrid Dahle and Christian Jegard both bagged the runners-up spot in previous years. And my comedy class graduates David Jordan and Dinesh Nathan have both made it into previous Finals. I'm so proud of our track record in this prestigious competiton. I know that Sam Willaims will make me feel even prouder. Exciting times ahead...
